Adventurers (2 – 5 Year olds)

The Adventurers have access to a large play space with continuous provision areas: sand, water, role play, mark making, workshop and painting, small world and construction and malleable. These areas are regularly enhanced to ensure the interests of the children are followed. We have a kitchen area where the children are encouraged to prepare snacks and participate in cooking activities. Every child is supported on their unique learning journey in our enabling environments as our planning is child initiated. The Adventurers also have planned sessions within the school hall for activities such as Sticky Kids, music and movement and large apparatus as well as parachute and circle games.

We have a fantastic outdoor space for the Adventurers, comprising of an adventure area to support the children in developing physical skills, learning to negotiate spaces and learning to share; a sensory area for them to spend quiet time in the outdoors, free play spaces for the children to build dens, run freely, and engage in ball games etc. We have a large mud kitchen and outdoor water area which gives children the opportunity to engage in imaginative play in the great outdoors. We recently added a large sand shed, which enables many children to engage in shared play whatever the weather. Our old covered sand area has now been transformed into a cosy reading space and we have also recently created a fabulous communication friendly space on one of our decked areas.

In addition we are also able to offer extra–curricular activities such as yoga sessions and sporting activities – both run by external providers and subject to a small additional cost.

At Blue Bear we believe that links between the staff and parents can enable children to reach their full potential. Parents are kept informed about what is happening at Blue Bear through regular verbal feedback, updates on tapestry our online learning journal, information in our parents areas within individual rooms and on the notice board in the entrance area. We also use tapestry to keep parents informed of any events within the setting.
